WAJO
WAJO was more than a dance project, it was a cultural movement and vibrant festival that celebrates the rich tapestry of African and Nigerian dance traditions. Designed as an open and inclusive platform, WAJO welcomed dancers, enthusiasts, and everyday people to experience the joy, rhythm, and unity that dance brings.
Over a five-year span, WAJO consistently drew an average of 250 people every month, creating an atmosphere filled with fun, freedom, and fellowship, where movement connected people beyond boundaries.
As the Founder, I served as both Creative Director and Technical Director. In my creative role, I shaped the vision, curated performances, and designed how every show told a cohesive and emotionally resonant story. As technical director, I ensured flawless execution behind the scenes, overseeing sound, lighting, staging, and production design to deliver seamless, immersive experiences.
WAJO continues to stand as a testament to the power of dance, not just as entertainment, but as a tool for expression, empowerment, and cultural connection.
